Preparing Students from Kindergarten to Graduation for College Success
We help Oakland students build a College-Bound identity from the very beginning through scholarships, savings, and family support.
Our Kindergarten to 12th Grade program provides early college savings accounts starting in elementary school, additional scholarships in high school, and ongoing school- and community-based support. Together, these resources help students and families plan for the future—ensuring every child sees college as not only possible, but expected.
Since 2016, our Kindergarten to 12th Grade program has awarded over 45,000 kindergarteners with scholarships for their postsecondary education
Give Your Child a Head Start on College Savings
Families with students in Kindergarten through 8th grade can sign up and activate their college savings accounts now.
Oakland public school kindergartners and 5th graders receive $100 in an Oakland Promise Scholarship account. Families can add savings, and eligible students may get $500 more through CalKIDS. Students can earn additional funds in 6th, 8th, 9th and 12th grade, with final awards upon graduating and enrolling in college.
