The mission of Oakland Promise (OP) is to engage the Oakland community to advance equity and economic mobility through cradle-to-career educational opportunities. Founded in 2016, Oakland Promise is a citywide movement with over 50 implementation partners working towards our common vision. Oakland Promise supports children and families from birth through college and career to ensure that postsecondary success is a reality for all Oaklanders. Oakland Promise includes four programs: Brilliant Baby, Kindergarten to College (K2C), Future Centers, and College Scholarships and Completion, that provide a cradle to career continuum of college-focused supports for students. Our goal is to dramatically increase the number of college graduates from Oakland and ensure that all students hold a college-bound identity. Job Purpose

Oakland Promise seeks an entrepreneurial Senior Manager of Corporate & Community Relations with excellent organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills coupled with a passion for expanding opportunities for Oakland families.

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Senior Manager of Corporate & Community Relations will be a key member of a growing and dynamic development team which raises $14M annually to serve Oakland families. The Senior Manager of Corporate & Community Relations will have the unique opportunity to leverage their relationship building skills to engage the community in order to best support our mission. This position will also work closely with the CEO, Communications, and Program teams to expand and deepen our corporate & community partnerships.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and expand OP’s portfolio of existing and prospective corporate partners to meet OP’s corporate fundraising target.
  • Serve as a primary liaison to corporate partners for the organization, working with them individually to develop and build strategies to achieve shared goals.
  • Expand current corporate engagement strategy, innovating to meet the needs of our diverse stakeholders.
  • Manage and expand the comprehensive Corporate Circle program.
  • Partner with the Communications team to publicize corporate partnerships and amplify the impact of OP.
  • Explore and develop new models for corporate and community engagement to maximize our reach.
  • Support the event planning efforts: including the Annual Party for the Promise, Awards Ceremony, and other events to highlight our partnerships within the community.
  • Create and implement activities and programs that elevate OP’s name recognition in the community.
  • Represent OP at various community functions with the purpose of building connections and sharing OP’s mission.
  • Collaborate with the College Access and Completion teams in recruiting mentors from corporations on an annual basis.
  • Be a conduit between Advising, Mentor, Communications, and Development teams to build workforce development opportunities for our scholars.
  • Assist the Chief Development Officer, CEO, and other fundraising partners in creating and implementing overall corporate and community engagement strategies.

Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in experience
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in partnerships, philanthropy, communications, or other related field
    • Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple competing deadlines
    • Deep commitment to and passion for the vision of the Oakland Promise
    • Proficiency in Google Suites platforms (google docs, sheets, and presentations)
    • Strong self-motivation and ability to operate effectively with limited direction
    • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders
    • Strong oral and written communication skills (including the ability and interest in public speaking)

  • Preferred Qualifications
      • Experience in the field of education
      • Fundraising and/or events management experience
      • Proficiency in Salesforce
      • Knowledge of and connections to Oakland communities
      • Experience leading corporate engagement strategies
      • Experience building a program from scratch
      • Comfort working with ambiguity
      • What you can expect from us
        • This is a full time exempt position with salary range of $80K-$95K
        • The team is still predominantly working remotely, with the goal of transitioning to going in the office (in downtown Oakland) 2x per week
