About Oakland Promise:

The mission of Oakland Promise is to engage the Oakland community to advance equity and economic mobility through cradle-to-career educational opportunities. Founded in 2016, Oakland Promise is a citywide movement with over 50 implementation partners working towards our common vision. Oakland Promise supports children and families from birth through college and career to ensure that postsecondary success is a reality for all Oaklanders. Oakland Promise includes four programs: Brilliant Baby, Kindergarten to College (K2C), Future Centers, and College Scholarships and Completion, that provide a cradle to career continuum of college-focused supports for students. Our goal is to dramatically increase the number of college graduates from Oakland and ensure that all students hold a college-bound identity. Job Purpose

Oakland Promise seeks a detail-oriented, entrepreneurial, relationships-driven Senior Manager, Development with excellent organizational, communication, and systems management skills and a passion for expanding opportunities for Oakland children and families to join its growing team.  

The Corporate Partnerships Senior Manager will be a part of an innovative development team tasked with raising the annual budget of around $12-14 million as well as other ongoing fundraising campaigns. The team works across the organization to ensure that the organization is sustainable in the short- and long-term. The Senior Manager will also work closely with the CEO, Communications team, and programs to expand and deepen our corporate partnerships.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage OP’s portfolio of existing and prospective corporate partners.
  • Serve as a primary liaison to corporate partners for the organization, working with them individually to develop and build strategies to achieve shared goals.
  • Expand current corporate engagement strategy, innovating to meet the needs of our diverse stakeholders.
  • Build pipeline of additional corporate partners.
  • Manage and expand the comprehensive Corporate Circle program
  • Work in partnership with the Communications Team to publicize corporate partnerships.
  • Explore new models for corporate engagement, developing and executing the plans and strategies. 
  • Support event planning, including the Annual Party for the Promise, Awards Ceremony and other events to highlight corporate partnerships. 
  • Support Outreach Team in recruiting 400+ mentors on an annual basis. 
  • Be a conduit between Advising, Mentor, Outreach and Development teams to build workforce development opportunities for our scholars.
  • Assist the Director of Development, CEO, and other fundraising partners in creating and implementing overall corporate engagement strategies.
  • Assist in the creation of print and digital marketing materials as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in fundraising and/or communications 
  • Previous fundraising and/or events experience
  • Exceptional organization and communications skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to details, and ability to manage multiple competing deadlines required
  • Deep commitment to and passion for the vision of the Oakland Promise 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Proficient with Salesforce Databases
  • Proficient with Google Suite tools
  • Strong self-motivation and ability to operate effectively with limited direct management
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to new situations
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with diverse groups

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the field of education 
  • Knowledge of and connections to Oakland communities
  • Experience leading corporate engagement strategies 
  • Experience building a program or organization from scratch
  • Comfort working with ambiguity

Compensation:

  • Full-time exempt position 
  • Oakland Promise offers medical, dental, and vision benefits, vacation, and sick-time.
  • Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
