Oakland Promise supports children and families from birth through college and career to ensure that postsecondary success is a reality for all Oaklanders. Oakland Promise includes four programs: Brilliant Baby, Kindergarten to College (K2C), College Access, and College Scholarships and Completion, that provide a cradle to career continuum of college-focused supports for students. Our goal is to dramatically increase the number of college graduates from Oakland and ensure that all students hold a college-bound identity. Job Purpose:

Oakland Promise seeks a detail-oriented and passionate Accounts Payable Associate with strong accounting and analytical skills. This role reports to the Sr. Manager Finance and Reporting. This is a full-time role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The main responsibility of the Accounts Payable associate is to manage the entire Accounts Payable cycle of the organization which includes entering invoices, credit card transactions, initiating payments, distributing checks, contacting vendors for additional documents, weekly check runs, processing expense reports, reconciling credit cards, filing documents and supporting the finance team with the audit.

Accounting:

  • Responsible for processing invoices and expense reimbursements and initiating payments on behalf of the organization and distribution of checks.
  • Act as the receiver for all goods and services for the organization.
  • Enter scholarship checks in the accounting system and issue payments.
  • Responsible for managing corporate credit cards and reconciling it.
  • Assist the accounting manager with the month end reconciliation.
  • Support the finance team during the audit.
  • Assist in 1099 and other government reporting.
  • Filing documentation for the finance team.
  • Work closely with cross functional teams and vendors to ensure all payments are made on a timely manner and reconcile data with the CRM software.
  • Follow up on uncashed/ voided checks and reissue new checks.
  • Purchasing gift cards on behalf of the organization and managing it with the Sr. Manager Finance and Reporting.
  • Filing all receipts in the system.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting.
  • 2 years of experience in accounting is desirable.
  • Good understanding of GAAP and non profit accounting is desirable.
  • Experience using NetSuite and Salesforce is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong attention to detail and a team player.
  • Must be driven to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytics and logical skills
